Location & Surroundings
Olmo Gentile in the province Asti (AT) is part of the mountain villages of the Langhe Astigiana. It is situated 650 meters above sea level, thus app. 400 meters above the river valley Bormida. This difference in altitude can be overcome with various access roads and serpentines.
The compensation for this are the fantastic views of the Alps, especially of the Monte Viso.
The region’s capitals are pretty close: Turin (app. 2 hours for 110 km), Milan (app. 2 ¼ for 150 km) and Genua (app. 2 hour for 110 km).
The province’s capitals Alessandria, Asti and Cuneo, too, are easy to reach. The smaller towns of the region, such as Acqui Terme, Alba, Canelli or Nizza Monferrato, are also worth seeing.
The area is characterized by the valleys of the rivers Bormida and Belbo, whose hillsides are seamed with vine and hazelnut trees.
It is advantageous to bring a car.
